Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information lailai.one collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to https://lailai.one, its localized versions, and the pages and content on that domain that are directly operated by the site owner (the "Site", "we", "us", or "our").

This Site is a personal content website. It is primarily used to publish notes, blog posts, project information, and related resources. The Site does not require account registration for normal browsing and does not provide paid purchases or payment processing through the Site itself.

This policy does not automatically apply to:

  • separate products or services that may have their own privacy notice, even if they are linked from this Site; or
  • third-party websites, apps, repositories, social media platforms, or services that you visit from links on this Site.

2. Site Owner and Contact

This Site is operated by the site owner known as lailai.

For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, you may contact us at lailai0x394@gmail.com.

If you are reporting a security issue or a privacy-rights request, please include a clear subject line such as Privacy Request or Security Report.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only the information that is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Site and the features you choose to use.

3.1 Information you provide directly

You may provide information directly to us when you:

  • contact us by email or through linked communication channels;
  • submit comments or reactions through the GitHub Discussions / Giscus commenting feature; or
  • otherwise send us information voluntarily.

This may include:

  • your name, username, or social handle;
  • your email address or other contact details;
  • the content of your message, comment, or attachment; and
  • any other information you choose to provide.

Please do not send sensitive personal information or confidential materials through public comments or public discussion threads.

3.2 Information collected automatically

When you browse or interact with the Site, we and the service providers we use may automatically process technical and usage information such as:

  • IP address;
  • approximate geolocation derived from IP;
  • browser type, browser language, operating system, device type, and screen size;
  • referring URL, visited pages, page titles, timestamps, session information, and navigation patterns;
  • search queries entered into the Site search feature;
  • performance, diagnostic, and error information; and
  • network, CDN, and security logs needed to operate and protect the Site.

Some of this information may be considered personal data under applicable law, even when it does not directly identify you by name.

We generally use this information in aggregate or service-operations form and do not try to identify named individuals from ordinary site traffic unless that is reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, or troubleshooting.

3.3 Information stored in your browser

The Site uses browser storage to remember preferences and support certain interface features. Examples currently include:

In addition, third-party services embedded in or loaded by the Site may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies under their own policies.

The Site itself is not designed to use invasive fingerprinting techniques for advertising or cross-site behavioral profiling.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Site;
  • deliver content, search, comments, and related features;
  • remember your settings and preferences;
  • understand traffic, usage trends, and Site performance;
  • troubleshoot errors, protect against abuse, spam, fraud, or security incidents;
  • respond to your messages, comments, and requests;
  • comply with legal obligations and protect rights, safety, and property; and
  • improve the Site's content, structure, and user experience.

We do not use information collected through the Site to sell data for money or to run targeted advertising profiles for this Site.

If data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, our legal bases may include:

  • legitimate interests: operating, securing, analyzing, and improving the Site;
  • your request or interaction: when you contact us or intentionally use features such as public comments;
  • consent: where you choose to enable or interact with optional technologies or where consent is required by applicable law; and
  • legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with law, regulation, or lawful requests.

The precise legal basis can depend on the type of information and the context in which it is processed.

6. Third-Party Services and Recipients

To operate the Site, we use a limited number of third-party services. When those services load in your browser or process requests on our behalf, they may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser metadata, and the page or asset requested.

Depending on the service and context, those providers may act as processors, service providers, or independent controllers of their own processing activities.

Additional detail about key third-party services:

Provider notices and official information:

We may also disclose information:

  • if required by law, court order, or lawful government request;
  • to protect the rights, safety, property, users, or integrity of the Site; or
  • in connection with a reorganization, transfer, or change of control of the Site or its assets, if that ever occurs.

7. Public Content and Comments

Some features are public by design. If you choose to comment through GitHub Discussions / Giscus or post information in other public areas connected to the Site:

  • your content may be visible to the public;
  • your GitHub username, profile image, profile link, and timestamps may be visible to others; and
  • public content may be indexed by search engines, cached, quoted, or copied by other people.

Please think carefully before posting information in a public discussion.

8. International Data Transfers

The Site is available globally, and some of the providers used to operate it process data in multiple countries, including the United States and other jurisdictions that may not have the same data protection laws as your place of residence.

Where applicable, cross-border processing may rely on safeguards made available by the relevant provider, such as standard contractual clauses or comparable lawful transfer mechanisms.

9. Data Retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Retention depends on the category of data:

CategoryRetention approach
Browser storage and local preferencesKept on your device until you clear them, or until the browser or session removes them
Analytics and security logsRetained for limited periods determined by operational need, provider settings, and legal requirements
Search queries and related search telemetryRetained according to Algolia's settings and policies
Contact emails and correspondenceRetained as long as needed to respond, keep reasonable records, and protect our rights
Public comments and reactionsRemain public until deleted by you, GitHub, or us from the underlying discussion where applicable

Because the Site does not maintain a normal end-user account database for browsing, we may not always be able to link anonymous technical or analytics records back to a specific person.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a personal content website, including:

  • HTTPS/TLS delivery where supported;
  • trusted hosting, CDN, and infrastructure providers;
  • restricted access to administrative services; and
  • data minimization and limited disclosure to service providers.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you believe there is a security or privacy issue involving the Site, please contact us at lailai0x394@gmail.com.

11. Your Choices and Rights

11.1 Browser and device controls

You can usually manage cookies, local storage, and similar technologies through your browser or device settings. You can also delete stored preferences at any time. Blocking certain technologies may cause some Site features to work less effectively.

11.2 Analytics and optional features

You can limit certain analytics or third-party requests by using browser privacy controls, content blockers, or network filtering tools. You may also avoid using optional third-party features such as comments and external links.

11.3 Privacy rights under applicable law

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights such as:

  • the right to know what personal data is collected and how it is used;

  • the right to object to or restrict certain processing;

11.4 California notice

If the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to our processing, California residents may have rights to know, correct, delete, and request information about certain disclosures, as well as the right to equal service and non-discrimination. California law may also grant opt-out rights in specific cases involving "sale" or "sharing" as defined by law.

This Site is not designed around data brokerage or targeted advertising, and we do not knowingly sell personal information for monetary consideration.

11.5 EEA / UK / Switzerland notice

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may have the rights recognized by applicable data protection laws, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent where applicable, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

11.6 Automated decision-making

We do not use personal data collected through the Site to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

12. Children's Privacy

If you believe a child has provided personal data to us through the Site, contact lailai0x394@gmail.com and we will review the request and take appropriate action.

The Site contains links to third-party websites, social platforms, repositories, tools, and other services. When you leave the Site or interact with third-party content, those third parties may collect and process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

That includes, for example, GitHub, Google, Algolia, social platforms, and any external website listed in the Site's content or resource directories. It may also include separate services linked from the footer or elsewhere, such as status, cloud, analytics, or AI tools operated outside this specific Site experience.
